Windows of Change

Straight through the glass of blackened views
Few to none will see right through
A tear will be shed down the cheek of the strong
And whimpers will be heard from those holding on
If only, if only, you only knew
If only, if only, you would look through.

A window can show you the passing of seasons
But nothing and no one can tell you the reasons
A war will come too, bombs blasting in yards
Bombarding the few who still have will in their hearts
If only, if only, you only knew
If only, if only, you would look through.

Times can and will change so fast
Years can go by and only a few things last
The lovers of yesterday will grow hatred tomorrow
The cheerful young toddlers will find out in sorrow
If only, if only, you only knew
If only, if only, you would look through.

A loved one will change and you’ll learn new ways
Ever on a road that leads to a haze
Fleeing to somewhere off in the distance
Fighting for only your very existence.
If only, if only, you only knew
If only, if only, you would look through.

If only, if only, things weren’t askew
If only, if only, then you’d see through.
The windows ahead, before me and you
Are set there to see the exchanging of views
Views that may seem a little deranged
If only you knew the windows of change.
